Winter Nordic Walking Weekend – 12-14 January 2018
What is it? The “Winter Nordic Walking Weekend” is aimed at Nordic Walkers who want to experience and enjoy the winter conditions, mountains and surrounding areas safe in the knowledge that they are being led by an experienced and qualified International Mountain Leader who has been exploring and leading expeditions in the Brecon Beacons National Park for over 15 years.
When? Arrival is from 4pm on Friday 12th January. Each days walking starts at around 9.00am and finishes around 4pm with “tea & cake”.
Where and What is the Accommodation? Llanddeusant Youth Hostel, Brecon Beacons.
The Red Lion is a 200-year old former Inn located in the heart of the Black Mountain on the western edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park overlooking the Sawdde Valley, and is ideally suited as a base for this Hill Skills Course, and for getting away from everyday life for the weekend. Upon entering the Hostel, you pass through the ‘boot and drying room’ before entering the open plan living downstairs, comprising sitting room, dining room and self-catering kitchen, meaning you can be toasty in front of the open log fire and still be part of everything going on. Upstairs there are 5 bedrooms (sleeping, 8, 6, 4, 4, 4). Bed linen is provided. There are also 2 showers and 3 toilets, with hand basins in each of the bedrooms.
When can I arrive? The accommodation is available from Friday afternoon at 4pm, and we will have exclusive use until we depart on Sunday afternoon. There is also ample parking for 10 vehicles.
What are the sleeping arrangements? Llanddeusant Youth Hostel has 5 bedrooms sleeping up to 20 people.
What is the Cost? The “Winter Nordic Walking Weekend” is £220.00. A £50 non-refundable deposit is required by 16th November 2017, with the balance to be paid by 14th December 2017.
An “Early Bird Fee” of £200.00 is available when booking and full payment are received by 16th November 2017.
What is included in the all-inclusive Residential Cost? 2 nights B&B, lunches on Saturday and Sunday, dinner on Friday & Saturday evening plus ‘tea & cakes’ on Saturday afternoon. Tea & coffee will be available throughout the weekend, as will orange squash and Ribena.
