Early Bird Fee – Tuscany Trails 2017

Steve Ellis News

We are heading to the Garfagnana region of Tuscany again this June for more walking in this amazingly quiet part of Italy…

These are the views of some of last years Nordic Walkers who joined us…

Helen’s views of her “Tuscany Trails 2016” experience…

  • Accommodation…..  “a stunning setting with beautiful views, fantastic food, warm welcoming hosts and really lovely and comfortable rooms”
  • Walking Routes…. “Pleasingly varied, extremely interesting and pleasantly challenging. Each day was different – one day crunching through chestnut woods and across vineyards, another high up on a rocky mountain, another passing through mountain meadows with the occasional cow looking on…..”
  • Leader…. “well organised and prepared. Very knowledgable about the area where we stayed and where we walked (and the different varieties of grappa available at our accommodation!).😂. Fun, friendly and entertaining. Nothing was too much trouble.”
  • Itinerary…. “very well thought through itinerary. Everything well organised. Plenty of variety throughout the week and a real treat in the middle of our stay to have a day to visit a beautiful city. Thoroughly enjoyed our evenings out as well as the home made suppers that we had back at the accommodation with our hosts. Our ritual coffee/gelato stops after our walks also definitely went down a treat! “
  • Highly recommended….

Helen Evans – October 2016

“A fabulous week away, great scenery, food and company. Tough but achievable routes up unpopulated tracks to see glorious panoramic views. If you are looking for time away from the hustle bustle of everyday life this is only a 2 hour flight away but feels like you are in another time. The scenery, along with the local architecture make it an amazing week, book now and you won’t be disappointed.”

Tuscany Trails 2017  Arriving in Pisa, you will have the opportunity to explore the famous Tower and piazza’s, before being driven to your beautiful hillside agritourismo accommodation with swimming pool and stunning views of the Alpi Apuane mountain range. Each day you will experience a different region of the Apennine and Alpi Apuane ranges. With walks appropriate for all levels this is a great opportunity for you to experience the Garfagnana from many aspects; it’s a photographers dream with stunning views. Walk to summits adorned with crosses, tread amongst woodlands and hillsides that have been cultivated for centuries – the Garfagnana is rich in culture and history. Throughout your stay in Italy, the group will have dedicated driven transport and as such the flexibility to visit ancient villages for your post-walk coffee, gelato or perhaps something a little stronger! Taking advantage of your transport and proximity to Lucca, you will be able to enjoy a visit to the famous walled city, with its cathedrals and towers; wander through the myriad of streets crammed with history and shops, stop for a coffee or gelato, take lunch in the famous Piazza dell’Anfiteatro – you will have a great day! On the way back enjoy a photo visit to the Ponte Diavollo before returning to the farm stay for a rest or swim prior to dinner! Each evening you will be able to enjoy a feast of local dishes, either at your accommodation prepared by hosts Rosalba and Amadeo; or in the local town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana – be assured, all the restaurants have been visited numerous times by your leader……purely for quality control purposes, you understand!
